Base of Twelvth-century Crucifix – Chaytor (1990); date unknown
Chaytor states that an interesting commission carried out by Violet Pinwill was the restoration of the base of a twelfth-century Byzantine silver and enamel crucifix. It was of great value and came with instructions that it should be kept in a bank when not in use. A new base was made for it from a block of ebony.
