War Memorial Panelling – Photograph (PWDRO 116/45) R.F. Wheatly architect; 1925
The photograph of the war memorial in PWDRO shows three sections of panelling bearing the names of 70 alumni of Exeter School who died in WWI. However, a newspaper report on the occasion of the unveiling in December 1925 reveals that the war memorial took the form of a reredos as well as sanctuary panelling in oak, erected in the school chapel (Devon & Exeter Gazette, 1925). Photographs on the Exeter School website (exeterschool.org) show that the reredos and panelling are still in place.
